Costruita nel 1890 per Sarah E. Buckhout, 152 West 132nd Street fa parte di una fila di sette brownstone Neo-Greci che si estendono dai numeri 144 a 156, tutti progettati dagli architetti Cleverdon & Putzel. Più di un secolo dopo, la casa è ancora molto parte del carattere della strada: la sua facciata restaurata porta il dettaglio di un'altra epoca, mentre oltre la porta d'ingresso, gli interni sono stati ricostruiti per il modo in cui viviamo ora.

There are certain Harlem blocks that seem to hold their history a little closer. West 132nd Street, beneath the mature trees of the Central Harlem-West 130th-132nd Streets Historic District, is one of them.
Built in 1890 for Sarah E. Buckhout, 152 West 132nd Street is part of a row of seven Neo-Grec brownstones stretching from numbers 144 through 156, all designed by architects Cleverdon & Putzel. More than a century later, the house remains very much a part of the street's character-its restored facade carrying the detail of another time, while beyond the front door, the interiors have been rebuilt for the way we live now.

Unit Two is a full-floor residence with a quiet, pared-back character. Concrete floors run beneath tall ceilings. Exposed brick appears along two fireplace walls, bringing warmth and texture to the rooms without asking for attention. The open kitchen is finished with marble counters and stainless-steel appliances, including a dishwasher, and central heating and cooling runs throughout.
Tall tilt-and-turn windows face north and south, filling the apartment with soft, changing light and giving each end of the home its own outlook.
Set apart toward the rear, the bedroom feels calm and private. Its adjoining bath has a wide sink, rain shower and deep soaking tub-a place to disappear for a while. Nearby, a laundry closet holds a washer and dryer, with additional room for storage.
