این واحد گوشه‌ای یک‌خوابه و دوحمامه در ساختمان دُوایر، به‌دست مالکانش تا اسکلت داخلی برهنه شد و با پالت رنگی سنجیده و جسورانه‌ای از نو ساخته شد. آپارتمان از زمان بازسازی کمتر استفاده شده و ۱٬۳۳۰ فوت مربع مساحت، سقف‌های بلند و آرامشی چشمگیر دارد. مالکان ترجیح داده‌اند چیدمان جادار آن را حفظ کنند؛ فضایی که برای پذیرایی، استراحت و بهره‌مندی از نور فراوان مناسب است. مصالح به فضا عمق می‌بخشند، بی‌آنکه آن را سنگین کنند. واحدهای دیگرِ تیپ D در ساختمان به‌صورت دوخوابه طراحی شده‌اند، اما مالکان این واحد فضای بازتر را ترجیح داده‌اند و در صورت نیاز مستأجر، با ایجاد اتاق‌خواب دوم موافق‌اند.

پنجره‌های بزرگ در دو جهت، اتاق نشیمن و غذاخوری را از نور طبیعی پر می‌کنند و از طبقه نهم، چشم‌انداز افق میدتاون را قاب می‌گیرند. درها کاملاً به سمت بالکن ژولیتِ رو به جنوب باز می‌شوند و هوای تازه را به فضای نشیمن می‌آورند؛ از این بالکن می‌توان هم پارک مورنینگ‌ساید و هم سنترال پارک را دید. کف‌پوش چوبی یکپارچه در سراسر آپارتمان امتداد دارد و به آن گرما می‌بخشد.

آشپزخانه نقطهٔ شاخص این آپارتمان است. کابینت‌های سفارشی با قاب‌های تیره و درهای توری، بر پس‌زمینه‌ای از کاشی‌های فلزیِ پرداخت‌شده قرار گرفته‌اند و پیشخوان‌ها از سنگ هستند. جزیره‌ای از چوب گرم با سه صندلی، رنگ‌های تیره‌تر آشپزخانه را متعادل می‌کند. لوازم شامل اجاق ولف، یخچال پنل‌دار لیبهِر، ماشین ظرف‌شویی بوش، مایکروویو/فرِ پخت سریع توکار بوش و یخچال نوشیدنی ساب‌زیرو است. فضای نگهداری وسایل در سراسر خانه تعبیه شده؛ از کمد دیواریِ قابل‌ورود و کمد لوازم تا کابینت‌های کنار آشپزخانه. ماشین لباس‌شویی و خشک‌کن ال‌جی هم شست‌وشوی لباس را به کاری بی‌دردسر تبدیل می‌کند.

اتاق‌خواب کمد دیواریِ قابل‌ورود دارد. هر دو حمام با سنگ روشنِ قطعات بزرگ و کف‌پوش موزاییکی شش‌ضلعی تکمیل شده‌اند و یکی از آن‌ها دوش با دیوارهٔ شیشه‌ای بدون قاب دارد.

مالکان آپارتمان را با اثاثیهٔ خودشان یا بدون اثاثیه اجاره می‌دهند.

ساختمان دُوایر در انباریِ سابقی در قلب ساوت هارلم قرار دارد. ساکنان از خدمات شبانه‌روزی کارکنان ورودی، سرپرستِ ساکن ساختمان، اتاق دوچرخه و تراس بام با چشم‌انداز شهر بهره‌مندند. پذیرش حیوانات خانگی بسته به شرایط و به‌صورت موردی بررسی می‌شود.

ایستگاه قطارهای سریع‌السیر کمتر از یک بلوک با ساختمان فاصله دارد؛ ایستگاه خیابان پنجاه‌ونهم ـ کلمبوس سرکل تنها یک ایستگاه و حدود هشت دقیقه با آن فاصله دارد. رستوران‌های بلوار فردریک داگلاس در نزدیکی‌اند و فروشگاه‌های وول‌فودز، تریدر جو و تارگت در خیابان ۱۲۵ نیز به‌راحتی در دسترس هستند. فروشگاه لینکلن مارکت چند بلوک پایین‌تر، در خیابان سنت نیکلاس قرار دارد. دانشگاه کلمبیا، پارک مورنینگ‌ساید، سنترال پارک و ریورساید پارک همگی در نزدیکی‌اند.

This corner one-bedroom, two-bath at The Dwyer was taken down to the studs by its owners and rebuilt with a confident, considered palette. Lightly lived in since its renovation, the apartment offers 1,330 square feet, high ceilings and a remarkable sense of quiet. The owners have chosen to preserve the expansive layout, with room to entertain, spread out and let the light pour in. The materials give the space depth without making it feel heavy. While other D-line apartments in the building are configured as two bedrooms, the owners have preferred the openness and are happy to create a second bedroom for a tenant who needs one.

Oversized windows on two exposures fill the living and dining room with natural light and frame Midtown skyline views from the ninth floor. Doors open fully onto a south-facing Juliet balcony, bringing fresh air into the living space and offering views of both Morningside Park and Central Park. Hardwood floors run unbroken throughout, bringing warmth to the apartment.

The kitchen is where the apartment makes its statement. Custom dark-framed cabinetry with wire-mesh fronts sits over a burnished metallic tile backsplash, and the countertops are stone. A warm wood island seats three and balances the darker finishes. Appliances include a Wolf range, a paneled Liebherr refrigerator, a Bosch dishwasher, a Bosch built-in microwave/speed oven and a Sub-Zero wine fridge. Storage is built in throughout, from the walk-in closet and utility closet to the cabinetry off the kitchen, and an LG washer/dryer makes laundry a non-event.

The bedroom has a walk-in closet. Both baths are finished in large-format pale stone with hexagonal mosaic floors, and one features a frameless glass shower.

The owners will rent the apartment furnished with their own pieces or unfurnished.

The Dwyer occupies a former warehouse in the heart of South Harlem. Residents have full-time door staff, a live-in superintendent, a bike room and a roof terrace with city views. Pets are considered case by case.

The express trains are less than a block away, with 59th Street-Columbus Circle just one stop and approximately eight minutes away. Frederick Douglass Boulevard's restaurants are close at hand, along with Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Target on 125th Street. Lincoln Market is a couple of blocks south on St. Nicholas Avenue. Columbia University, Morningside Park, Central Park and Riverside Park are all nearby.
